We were assigned to teams of four in week nine of the SoC bootcamp and our task was to solve a problem that bootcampers have. On the first day, we planned the project as a team and we decided to build an app for bootcampers to get to know more about each other. In the following days, we were divided into pairs and I was responsible for leading the backend and helping solve issues on the front-end. During the week, we learnt how to effectively work as a team, how to use git branches, deploy on Netlify and Heroku and how resilient we were as a team.
This project was created in my spare time and the aim was to create a React app from scratch by practicing fetching data from an API, using custom hooks, React Router, UI libraries, React Modal components.
During the Christmas break, we were assigned the task of creating anything we would like. As I wasn't feeling very confident on the backend, I decided to deep dive into Node.js. I used Express wireframe, environment variables to secure the Postgres Database credentials and use HTTP Methods to interact with the database.
This project was created during the SoC bootcamp pre-course. As I had no prior knowledge of using HTML and CSS apart from selecting pre-made elements from Wordpress. I decided to create a page in memory of my brother, who is definitely a big inspiration during my SoC experience.
